About

Let me introduce myself--my name is Mrs. Abella.  I'm nearing late 30's, graying, and a stay at home mom and stepmom to 1 biological son (currently 13), 1 step son (currently  13), and 1 step daughter (currently  11).  Mr. Abella, who is graying right along side me, is middle 40's, holds 2 college degrees and is disabled due to on the job injuries.

Our house is chaotic to say the least.  All 3 children have autism spectrum disorders of varying degrees. All 3  of them are also diagnosed with ADD/ADHD (not just wiggling in the seat, we're well beyond that and pray for simply wiggling in the seat).  One has a diagnosis of Bi Polar disorder as well.  As the children grow older, their challenges differ from those we've finally grown accustomed to, and each day is a new set of challenges.

I'm a born again Christian, saved for over a decade.  I grew up in a very non-Christian home that was fairly hostile to Jesus and the Bible.  It wasn't until I had become a single parent and freshly out of an abusive situation that I met Jesus.  Praise Him, He heals all wounds!  Mr. Abella is also a born again Christian, with a family heritage richly blessed from within the persecuted church from a Communist country.  We are absolutely not perfect, and grow each day, whether it be willingly or not, with or without pain.  Both of us struggle with rebelliousness, pride, selfishness, and other things that normal folks deal with.  We most likely will struggle with this until we meet Jesus face to face, as this is the Adamic nature trying to come out.

I'm conservative, pro life, could even say pro choice (choose life--raise your child or give the child to a family who will raise him or her).  I stand on the biblical definition of marriage (between one man and one woman), and believe what the bible says on the issues of life.  I don't hate those who are different.  I see them as sinners (just as I am) who need Jesus to show them life and how to live it abundantly, under His blood and through the Holy Spirit, which is biblical.

My background is in maximum security corrections as a correctional officer in men's and women's prisons, as well as security in a forensic psychiatric hospital in the maximum security building.  I also spent years working (sometimes simultaneously with the afore mentioned) in mental health with developmentally disabled adults, nursing homes, and agencies as an in-home CNA.

I work around the home doing as much as I can by hand and from scratch.  I'm by no means a food snob, don't subscribe to all the organic things, don't really care if my food/seed is GMO or not--if it produces it produces and if it doesn't, it doesn't.  I'm definitely pro-farmer.  I am not a "green" fanatic.  Sure, we try to take care of resources, but it's not a god and there's no worship of the little triangle of arrows (you know what I mean).  I sew for the family and myself, sometimes to sell, and do other things to make our budget stretch--typical things many housewives do throughout the day.  I make my own clothing, mostly cape dresses and skirts, and subscribe to a modest style of dress for our family.

So, that's about it in a nutshell.  I hope what you find here at Sunny Patch is encouraging to you.  :)

Have a blessed day!
