All For The Glory

I ran across this verse today, and I believe this is a good verse to have on hand for my weight loss challenge.

I Corinthians 10:31:  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

This is a bit convicting!  When I put something in my mouth, am I doing it to simply fuel up so I can go on with my duties, or is it for gratification, filling a void, giving in to a temptation?

Something to think about today!

  1. Oh yes! For the glory of God! I am so excited on day three of partnering with you Angie...God has used you to give me this joyful hope of being victorious in this battle. I just read your last comment on challenge-week 1 & loved the idea of God turning our weaknesses & sins of gluttony into something for good. I believe my "hopelessness" is a taste of what many are experiencing right now, & some of that stems from isolation. We are created for Christian community & fellowship & we simply become weak & vulnerable to Satan's lies....like a lone sheep. We might get to church but yes, how well I know the distraction of children with special needs (though of course, they are a HUGE blessing in our lives, & other things in our lives that prevent Godly fellowship. You inspire me by your honest confession, (I tend to ignore my sins sometimes!). Again, simple confession is the beginning of victory! "James 5:16..."confess your sins to one another & pray for one another, so that you may be healed." And this one jumped out at me from a daily devotion: Philippians 2:3&4 "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own interests, but also for the interests of others." I believe God has some wonderful blessings ahead for us in this little community! Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia

  2. awwww...thank you so much for your kind words! The verses you shared are great ones! Isn't it awesome how the Lord chooses to speak to us right when we need it?

Last night, we had our bible study at church, and it focused on one word in the verse "nevertheless not my will but thine be done"...it focused on "nevertheless" and any pause we may be putting after it, how we can put too much of a pause, a doubt, anything to hinder what we know we should be doing. I wish I'd have taken notes...I usually do here lately but forgot to grab my notebook on the way out the door. In my own reading, I've been in the chronological study and am at the part where Joshua is getting ready to take over. I just got through where the Israelites worry about having the leeks and garlics of Egypt, rather than the good manna the Lord provided. Oh what a sermon we can get out of that...wanting what the world offers for filling when the Lord offers so much more. That makes a good application as well to our daily lives.. :)

    Thank you for stopping in!
